The Dover-Brick Beach First Aid Squad has been serving Normandy Beach and the surrounding region for decades. We are a volunteer-led organization staffed by professionally trained Emergency Medical Technicians who provide 24/7 emergency medical response and transportation. Our dedicated volunteers undergo rigorous training and certification to ensure every patient receives the highest standard of pre-hospital care.

Comprehensive emergency medical services for our community

Emergency Medical Response

Basic Life Support (BLS), scene safety assessment, patient stabilization, and rapid intervention for life-threatening conditions.

Our EMTs respond to all types of medical emergencies including cardiac events, respiratory distress, trauma, diabetic emergencies, and more. We arrive with advanced medical equipment and the expertise to stabilize and treat patients on scene before transport.

Ambulance Transport

Safe, comfortable transport to local hospitals with continuous monitoring and care en route.

We transport patients to area hospitals including Jersey Shore University Medical Center, Community Medical Center, and other facilities as needed. Our ambulances are equipped with advanced life support equipment, and patients receive continuous care throughout transport.

Standby & Event Coverage

Medical standby services for community events, sporting competitions, and public gatherings.

We provide on-site medical coverage for local events including 5K races, beach festivals, school sports events, and community celebrations. Our presence ensures immediate medical attention is available should any attendee require assistance.

Mutual Aid

Collaborative support with neighboring first aid squads and EMS agencies across the region.

We work closely with surrounding municipalities and first aid squads to provide mutual aid during high-volume periods, multi-casualty incidents, or when neighboring units require assistance. This cooperation ensures no call goes unanswered.

Disaster Response

Preparedness and response capabilities for storms, floods, and other emergency situations.

Living in a coastal community, we maintain specialized training and equipment for hurricane preparedness, flooding response, and evacuation assistance. Our squad coordinates with local emergency management to ensure community safety during natural disasters.

Public Education

CPR/AED training, first aid demonstrations, and community safety education programs.

We regularly visit schools, senior centers, and community groups to teach life-saving skills. Our education programs include CPR certification courses, AED training, stop-the-bleed workshops, and general safety awareness presentations.

Requirements

Must be 18 years or older, pass a background check, commit to regular duty shifts, and complete EMT training and certification (we provide training resources).

Time Commitment

Flexible scheduling with duty crew shifts, typically one or two shifts per month plus monthly training meetings. Additional opportunities for daytime and special event coverage.

In any emergency, dial 911 immediately. The dispatcher will alert our squad and provide pre-arrival instructions. Never hesitate to call if you or someone else needs medical attention. Our volunteers respond 24/7, 365 days a year.

Dover-Brick Beach First Aid Squad is a registered 501(c)(3) public charity (EIN 23-7158128). All donations are tax-deductible to the fullest extent allowed by law. We provide receipts for all contributions. Donations help fund equipment, vehicle maintenance, training, and operational costs.

Start by filling out our contact form with your interest in volunteering. We'll invite you to attend a meeting, complete an application, and undergo a background check. You'll then join our training program to earn your EMT certification (we assist with training costs). Once certified, you'll ride with experienced crew members before taking on independent duty shifts.

Yes! We offer medical standby services for community events, races, festivals, and private gatherings. Contact us at least two weeks in advance with details about your event including date, location, expected attendance, and type of activity. We'll work with you to determine appropriate coverage.

Absolutely. We regularly conduct CPR/AED certification courses, basic first aid training, and community education programs. We can also arrange custom training sessions for businesses, schools, and organizations. Contact us to schedule a course or arrange a group training session.

We strictly adhere to HIPAA regulations and maintain the confidentiality of all patient information. Medical records are securely stored and only shared with receiving hospitals and authorized healthcare providers. We never disclose patient information without proper consent or legal requirement.
